Frequently asked questions

Which size does my child need (age 5–12)?

ARDUGA sleeves and socks with guard come in three sizes: S for shoe size 28–32 (approx. age 5–7), M for shoe size 33–37 (approx. age 8–10) and L for shoe size 38–42 (approx. age 11–13). Go by shoe size. The fabric is elastic – if your child is between two sizes, choose the larger one.

What can I do if my child’s shin guards keep slipping?

The most reliable fix is a guard that is built into the sleeve – like the ARDUGA Sleeve with Guard. The pad is part of the fabric and moves with the sleeve instead of sliding down or twisting as a separate piece. No tape, velcro strap or extra sleeve is needed, and once it is on, the pad sits at the front of the shin.

How do I wash the ARDUGA socks?

Turn inside out, machine wash at 40 °C, do not tumble dry. The protection is unaffected – in the laboratory it was tested after five wash cycles at 40 °C. We kept washing beyond that: after 40 machine washes at 40 °C we could see no change in the guard. That is our own observation, not a laboratory result.

Does the sock really protect enough during a match?

Yes. Our shin guards were tested by the independent Italian laboratory RICOTEST against the European standard EN 13061:2009 for association football shin guards: stud impact and blunt impact, and specifically after five wash cycles at 40 °C. All tests were passed. In the blunt impact test the highest measured value was 1.0 kN – the standard permits up to 2.0 kN.

Are sleeves with an integrated shin guard allowed in official youth matches?

The Laws of the Game (IFAB, Law 4) require shin guards made of suitable material that give reasonable protection and are covered by the socks. In ARDUGA sleeves and socks with guard the pad sits inside the fabric, so it is always covered; its protection was tested to the EN 13061 standard. As with any shin guard, the referee decides before the match whether the equipment is acceptable. If the team wears matching socks, choose the matching colour. Urs Meier, former FIFA referee and investor in ARDUGA: “What matters to the referee is that the shins are protected and the guards are covered by the socks. With the ARDUGA Sleeve with Guard, both are the case.”
